Eric Jackson makes fine violins, violas, and cellos in the classical tradition. He also offers repairs, restorations, and instrument set-up.

He trained at the prestigious Newark School of Violin Making and draws on his deep affinity with music, along with decades of experience in making, restoring and repairing. In the early 2000s, he invested in a large range of exceptional wood from Italy, Germany, Scotland, and England to make his instruments.
Eric understands the care taken when customers are considering buying a new instrument:
“A new instrument is a substantial investment so you need to get customers to play it and put it through its paces. I lend instruments out for a trial loan period to allow prospective customers to experience them in their own circumstances. It is important to get used to playing an instrument and get it used to being played. It settles in, grows, and there is a playing-in process, which will evolve as an instrument is played. The biggest difference is in those first few months. The more it is being exercised, the better it will perform, just like people!.”

He makes his instruments and offers restorations and repairs from Real Wood Studios in the Scottish Borders, having previously worked from North Uist.
