How to Commission

Commissioning a piece of furniture shouldn’t be a daunting process. Its really quite simple – we like to see it as a creative partnership between client and maker.

What are you looking for?

Are you looking for a Dining Table, Bookcase or King Size Bed? If you have an idea of the style, type of wood and dimensions then great. There are lots of different designs and styles that can be applied to any piece. Have a look at our website for inspiration.

Contact Us

Either email, phone or visit our Showroom to make an enquiry. One of the designer-makers will discuss your ideas and fill out a Contact Sheet. If you have seen a particular piece, in our Showroom or on the Website, that you like we will put you directly in contact with the maker.

Creative Brief

At a weekly meeting we collectively discuss all recent enquiries and allocate them to individual designer-makers. He/She will then contact you to discuss your enquiry in more detail.

A home or site visit is often recommended to measure up, check access for installation and see where the piece will live. Alternatively a meeting can be arranged at our Workshop and Showroom. Working with you, the designer-maker will outline design, style, timber selection and finishing options. An indication of Budget is useful and where appropriate the designer-maker will give an indicative price and lead time for the piece.

Design & Estimate

From the Creative Brief the designer-maker will draw up an initial design and a quote for your approval. Revisions may be required to the design and quote as the project evolves. Once the design is finalised and the quote agreed a deposit is required to secure the contract. This is usually 30 to 50% of the agreed piece.

Production

Workshop time is scheduled and timber will be sourced for the piece. The designer-maker will keep you informed of progress via email or if you prefer you are welcome to visit the Workshop by appointment.

Delivery

Upon completion a delivery date will be arranged at a time to suit you. If required the piece will be assembled and positioned for you. Any installation work will be costed and agreed in advance.

Aftercare

Advice on caring for your piece will be given. Wood is a natural material and as a piece acclimatises to its new home some adjustment may be required.
